What a Kinship Plan actually is
A Kinship Plan is a membership that looks after a named person in Nigeria: Kinship Visits at home from the Kinship care team, with health benefits included through Kinship Well, the health part of the plan - funded by the people who love them, wherever they are. You join on behalf of the person you want to look after, and Kinship handles the coordination on the ground.
The support is delivered through a local team: qualified nurses and trained members of the Kinship team who visit your loved one in person, check on how they're doing, and report back to you. You stay informed without having to chase anyone.
The three things a plan includes
Every Kinship Plan is structured around three areas of support:
- Kinship Visits. A trained member of the Kinship care team visits your loved one at home - a check-in, companionship, or alongside them at an appointment - and every visit ends with a plain update you can read from anywhere.
- A named Care Manager. One person holds responsibility for your loved one across the whole plan. They know them, keep the thread, and are the point of escalation when something needs clinical attention.
- Kinship Well. The health part of the plan, with its health benefits - hospital care, medicines and tests - and a doctor to talk to when they need one.
How you get started

Who a Kinship Plan is for
Most of the families using Kinship are Nigerian adults based in the UK who have a parent or other elderly relative living in Nigeria. They want that person to be visited regularly, to have qualified eyes on their health, and to know that someone responsible is on the ground.
You do not need to have a specific health concern to start. Many members join simply because they want peace of mind and a reliable way to stay connected to someone they cannot see every day.
What happens between visits
The Care Manager does not disappear between visits. They are reachable through the app if there is a concern, and they follow up on anything flagged in a previous report. If your loved one needs to see a doctor, the Care Manager helps coordinate that through Kinship's clinical partners.
