About Kinship
Kinship helps people look after someone they love in Nigeria, from wherever they live. People in the UK set up a Kinship Plan for someone they love in Nigeria: the Kinship care team, Kemi on WhatsApp and a shared record, with nurse visits at home and a named Kinkeeper. Our small team works across the UK, Nigeria and Ghana, and every role helps people stay close across the distance.
The role
You are the person someone trusts with the person they love when they cannot be there themselves. As the named Kinkeeper for each of your members, you know them, you hold responsibility for their wellbeing, and you give their supporters the confidence that someone qualified and genuinely caring is watching over the person they love. You are a registered nurse, and that training is the safety layer that keeps your members safe. But first and foremost you are the human anchor of trust at the heart of Kinship. The supporters you work with are abroad, so warmth and clear, confident communication across distance matter as much as clinical judgement. This is a hands on, mobile role in a fast growing technology business. You are out visiting members in their homes, adapting as things change, and comfortable using our app to do it. In the early days you also carry out visits yourself and help train the first visiting nurses, before shifting to leading and safeguarding their work as the team grows.
Main responsibilities
- Be the named, accountable Kinkeeper for a group of members and their supporters, the one person who knows them and holds their care over time
- Build real relationships and be a warm, reassuring point of contact for supporters abroad, giving them confidence the person they love is in good hands
- Use your clinical judgement as the safety layer: notice changes, decide what matters, and triage concerns
- Set and uphold the standard visiting nurses report to, and review their reports before supporters see them
- Coordinate doctors, health benefits partners and hospital pathways when needed, working through our doctors and partners rather than carrying clinical delivery yourself
- Step in personally at the moments that count: a change in health, a worry, a difficult conversation, an escalation
- In the early days, carry out home visits and help train the first visiting nurses
Essential requirements
- NMCN-registered Registered Nurse with a valid, verifiable licence
- At least three years' post-registration experience
- Physically active and comfortable travelling around Lagos to visit members in their homes
- Mentally sharp and adaptable, at ease in a fast changing, fast growing environment
- A warm, confident communicator in English, comfortable supporting people based abroad
- Sound clinical judgement and an instinct for when to act or escalate
- Comfortable using an app and digital tools day to day
Nice to have
- Community or home health nursing experience
- Experience supporting older people and the people close to them
- Experience working with clients based abroad
- Familiarity with Nigerian health and care pathways
