Supervising Medical Practitioner / Medical Director (Part time)
About Kinship
Kinship is a health and care membership for families across borders. People in the UK set up a Kinship Plan for someone they love in Nigeria: health benefits, Care visits and a doctor on call, funded from abroad and delivered at home. Our small team works across the UK, Nigeria and Ghana, and every role helps a family stay close.
The role
You are the clinical conscience behind Kinship's care. You make sure the support we give families is safe and well governed, and that we are ready to escalate the moment a member needs more than companionship. You give families the quiet assurance that qualified medical oversight stands behind every visit. Your authority is clinical. You own the safety and governance of the care we give, the supervision of our nurses, and our clinical protocols. The running of the business, its strategy, operations and growth, sits with the founders and the operations team, and you work as a partner to them. This role suits a senior clinician who is comfortable providing focused, part time clinical governance within a founder led, technology business, rather than directing the company. This is a part time, senior appointment of approximately one day per week initially, growing with the service. You act as the named supervisory medical practitioner for the operation, oversee our telemedicine partners, and are the clinical backstop when a case becomes complex.
Main responsibilities
- Provide clinical governance for the service, upholding safe care standards and protocols
- Supervise the registered nurses and provide the clinical oversight the care team reports into
- Review and strengthen clinical protocols, and review clinical incidents
- Be the escalation support and clinical backstop for complex cases
- Act as the named supervisory medical practitioner for the service's HEFAMAA registration and support ongoing clinical compliance
- Provide clinical oversight of our telemedicine and clinical delivery partners
- Give clinical consultation or sign off where engaged
Essential requirements
- MDCN-registered medical practitioner with a full, current and verifiable licence
- Substantial post-qualification clinical experience, with the seniority to set and hold clinical standards
- Comfortable providing clinical governance within a founder led team, focused on clinical safety rather than business or operational control
- At ease in a fast growing, technology led business and working alongside non-clinical founders
- Willing and eligible to act as the named supervisory medical practitioner for the service's HEFAMAA registration
- Available approximately one day per week initially, with agreed response times for escalations
- Based in or close to Lagos
Nice to have
- Experience in primary care, family medicine, geriatrics or internal medicine
- Prior experience as a medical director, clinical lead or supervising practitioner
- Comfortable with telemedicine and digital health models
- Experience supporting or governing services for international or diaspora families
