Someone is coming home from hospital in Nigeria and I am not there

Kinship supports the weeks after discharge: nurse visits at home, a Kinkeeper who reads each report, and a doctor to talk to if recovery wobbles.

Discharge is when the hard part starts. Medicines to take on time, wounds to watch, a follow-up appointment nobody has booked, and a relative who says they are fine because they do not want to worry you.

A visit rhythm for the first month or two gives you someone qualified in the room, and a Kinkeeper who reads every report and knows what a normal recovery looks like.

What Kinship does here

Kinship Visits, weekly to start

Four visits a month puts a qualified nurse at home each week for up to three hours: checking how they are doing, being alongside them at the follow-up appointment, and writing it up plainly for the family. The nurse observes, supports and escalates; treatment stays with their doctor and hospital.

A named Kinkeeper

A Kinkeeper is a registered nurse who does not do the visiting: she reviews every visit report before the family sees it, signs it off, and is the person the family knows by name. If a report shows something that should not wait, she says so.

A doctor to talk to

Through Kinship Well, a doctor is available to the member when they need one, without waiting for the next visit. Well+ arranges and follows up specialist consultations.

Kinship Well for what comes next

Hospital care, medicines and tests through a hospital network in Nigeria, in their own name, so a readmission is not a scramble for cash.

How it starts

  1. 1

Tell us who it is for

Get early access takes a few minutes: who you are looking after, where they are, and what would help most. There is no cost to join.

  2. 2

Choose the shape of the plan together

Kinship Visits, Kinship Well, or both. The member sets up their own account in the app, so the plan is in their name from the start.

  3. 3

    Chip in, and invite others

You pay a simple monthly amount from the UK, and anyone you trust can join you. Several people can support one plan.

  4. 4

Care starts in Nigeria, updates come to you

Visits happen at home, the Kinkeeper reviews every report, and the family sees a plain update after each one in the app.

What it costs

  • Kinship Well from £39 a month. Well and Well+ include the same health benefits; the price reflects the member's age.
  • Kinship Visits from £60 a month for one visit, with two or four a month available.
  • Both together from £99 a month. A free Kinship account stands on its own.

Full prices and the plan builder are on the Kinship Plan page.

Questions people ask

Can this start quickly?

Tell us the discharge date when you get early access and we will tell you honestly how soon a first visit can happen in their area.

Can I reduce the visits once they are better?

Yes. Many families start at four a month and step down to one or two. You change the rhythm in the app.

Will the Kinkeeper talk to their doctor?

With the member's agreement, yes. The Kinkeeper can pass on what the visits have found and help arrange the next appointment.

Does Kinship Well pay for the hospital stay that already happened?

No. Health benefits apply from when the plan starts, under the provider's benefit document. They are there for what comes next.
